Kaylon Rashaad Woods, Shooting by Ex-Officer Adonis Latroy Joseph, Death: Family Mourns

Kaylon Rashaad Woods, Shooting by Ex-Officer Adonis Latroy Joseph, Death Obituary:
A tragic shooting in South Bend, Indiana has left the community grieving after yoga instructor Kaylon Rashaad Woods, 38, was killed in what authorities describe as a targeted attack. A second victim, Madi Morin, 30, was seriously injured but is expected to survive following emergency surgery. The suspected gunman, identified as Adonis Latroy Joseph, a former South Bend police officer and Morin’s ex-partner, later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a fire broke out at his residence during a police standoff.

The incident began at an apartment on Links Drive, where police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Woods fatally wounded. Morin was found outside the building with critical injuries after attempting to escape the scene. Investigators believe the attack was connected to a personal and domestic dispute involving custody tensions and a prior relationship between Morin and the suspect.

Following the shooting, authorities tracked Joseph to a home in Elkhart County, where a standoff ended with a fire and his death inside the residence. Officials believe he took his own life, though the exact circumstances are still under investigation.

Woods, a respected yoga instructor known for his calm presence and community work, is being remembered as a compassionate teacher who positively impacted many lives. Morin remains hospitalized as she recovers from her injuries, while her two young children are now in the care of relatives.

Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the case, which has raised broader concerns about domestic violence, firearm access, and warning signs preceding such incidents.
